I remember installing these in my kitchen illuminated ceiling before I switched to daylight F40s and later T8.

LOL, one was installed in the kitchen illuminated ceiling in the house I grew up in. Wow, daylight F40s in a kitchen, interesting!

Yeah, it wasn't that bad actually. My kitchen is 8x9 so there was only three F40 strips in the ceiling. They had Universal LPF rapid start ballast. I delamped to two strips when I converted them to T8. The daylight F40 have been switched with 5000K lamps. Looks pretty good in a work area like the kitchen but a bit harsh for living areas.
