Vintage Floxite Makeup Light Turned On
|
As promised, here is the world's dimmest spotlight (Floxite makeup mirror light) turned on. At 25 lumens, the GE No. 55 7-volt automotive bulb is only a little brighter than a 4-watt incandescent nightlight bulb, as demonstrated in the lower-right image. However, being low-voltage, its color temperature is quite a bit cooler as you can tell. There is another huge flaw to this fixture other than its next-to-nothing light output: its terrible light distribution. That streaky mess makes a flashlight look good, and that's saying something. I don't know if the mirror attachment meant to go with this fixture has a diffuser or something, but how do you mess up a reflector that bad, even a plastic one? I'm not sure if I would even deem this thing acceptable for makeup application...
