Barn Light
Now I know that this is not a real barn light but it looks like one... This is the light that I showed to the man at his garage sale and gave me the Stonco light for free! This light is in the middle of our yard by the lake and this one is on a tree too.As you can see I put on a weatherproof junction box and a gasket. When I got this light it was all rust! I had too get all the rust off before I could paint. Now it looks as good as new!

Very nice light! That bug lamp looks nice in that fixture. Very Happy

Those were barn lights in the olden incandescent days ya know....You wouldn't see MV bucket yard blasters on private buildings in the 1950s.....and a very very few on power lines

They still sell those barn lights today you know. They take any incandescent, CFL or LED bulb. BTW, Wal-Mart just started selling GE Bug Lites in 90w! Odd wattage, and they are made in Mexico.

I'd either put a SBMV lamp in there or remote ballast it with an H38 ballast.

But it is a very nice fixture.

Tmcdllr you aren't a fan of incandescent eh?

Well I am but I like to see incendescent in gumballs and teardops.

But I will say there is something really neat about a fixture like this with an incandescent lamp in it.

You could probably put a button photocell for this if you wanted to. Just knock out a conduit hold on the juction box and put it there. i did something similar to my wallpack.

Or you can put a twist lock PC socket in, some sockets have a threaded bottom that can mount in a 1/2" KO.

IMO twistlock is always better service wise, but sometimes econonically button PCs work better for me.
