GE Halarc 32w metal halide
Tiny quartz arc tube in this lamp that I don't have a ballast for. The arc tube has the protective shield around it for open fixtures and is designed for vertical base up burning only. It has only a diffusing coating, not a phosphor. I believe this was the first size of the low-watt pulse-start lamps; it shows up in my 1987 GE catalogue. It also says the lamp has a minimum starting temperature for 50 Fahrenheit, so it wasn't intended for outdoor use.

hmm. never heard of this wattage. i also never knew they made PSMH lamps this early. I wonder if it'd work on a 22W or 39W PSMH ballast?

Yeah, I also wonder if modern 35/39w metal halide gear can run these lamps.

this lamp is ment for DC only run it on 60Hz and u will give it a hard time while specs are simuler to a F30T8 it runs on DC only thats why its vertical burning look here for more info (remove the spaces) www . lamptech.co.uk/Spec%20Sheets/GE%20MXR32.htm

Indeed, it is the smallest Metal Halide bulb commerical available for the Edison screw version. Not counting the 'AA' size battery 20 Watts MH bulbs Wink

Thanks, Bulb Freak for the info on this lamp. I didn't realize it was a DC lamp! Now, to build a ballast for it Smile
