Oh does this one start off greenish like a clear MV lamp? I love the pre-2000 GE HPS lamps because of that. Their 50W ones didn't do that though. But I love seeing the 100W, 250W, and 400W HPS lights here with their original GE lamps as they warm up for the night. When first starting off, they could easily pass for mercs.
And it's from the 80s? Weird. I know the modern GEs start like that but the older ones here start off just like clear mercs with a violet that quickly shifts to green and then to a blue-white before the orange kicks in.
Hmm that's really weird. The 50W lamps here always started like that but the 100 and 250W lamps always started up like clear mercs. Now they all start up halogen-ish like you said. We use Sylvanai lamps here now.
Yeah, that's odd for me too as I have a GE 250w HPS from 2002 that starts off like a clear merc. Oddly both my Philips BT-25 70w HPS from 1986 and my Sylvania 70w HPS from 1992 don't really do that.
No my Westinghouse 70W lamp from 1980 doesn't do it either. Neither do my Philips pr Sylvania lamps. I'm pretty sure GEs were the only ones that did it. That's why I like older GE HPS lamps but I guess even all the GEs didn't do that.
