Inisdes of the Exit Sign
|
I know somebody will want a shot lol. I'd be curious too since i've nevr seen the inside of battery back-up exit sign either. Looks complicated lol. I didn't connect the slip-on ballast connectors in order to disable the battery backup. I won't fry the circut bord, will I? The little "ballast" in there converts either 120V or 277V to I think 11V.

Oh and here's a fun fact, most exit signs overseas use fluorescent lamps and those have emergency ballasts inside, interestingly most signs overseas use Ni-Cad batteries while ours usually use a sealed lead acid battery.
And yeah I probably would take out the extra stuff to save weight too.
And yeah I liked the metal exit signs better too, the plastic ones seem a bit cheap to me. As for the date there might be one on the battery.
Jace; do you want one? they cost $5 plus shipping too. These seem like pretty hefty units. they're made in china but appear to built exceptionally well. Plus they're very flexable when it comes to options (three mounting options, two letter color options). If you want I'll send it with a pair of those old GE exit sign lamps i was telling Joe about that i saw at a local hardware store for whatever the cost of them is.
The only complaint i have about this one is that the instructions are very vague.
