A lighted sign with a 20W 4500K fluorescent lamp that Vince dated to 1949. The decorative endplates are really cool! It came with a box of letters, numbers etc.
Neon's have Declined Greatly in Popularity...though to me they are the most Eye Catching form of outdoor Advertising Signs....Incandescent is non Existant these days...and Very Tall Signs on the Interstate some actually have MH Bulbs inside.
Yeah, I don't see a lot of newer neon signs being installed now, most of the new signs here are fluorescent or MH. I kind of wish that they would use those neon traffic signs again too.
We have still fluorescent signs in Israel, which are simply a regular signs lighted by a fluorescents fixtures insides (Custom made). They uses the simplest T8 haloposphte lamps with a preheat magnetic ballasts with glow starter, because they are commonly exposed to vandalism.
MH sign are nothing but a non lighted sign that a floodlights with a MH lamps mounted to a brackets lighting it (External lighting).
We have also fluorescent signs in the manner of this signs, but still, they are nothing but general purpose sealed fluorescent fixtures that a text have been printed on them.

one time i saw a Very Tall Sign on the Interstate...but all the letterings were gone along with the Panels,so i could see all the Lamps inside which looked like 400 Watt MH Lamps.
