I was out side, its a fairly small substation, its at a train station and this powers our local commuter "GO" trains when there parked for the night there was another one of them at the other side, and yes you can get very close, the fence is about 8 feet away from live transformers Shocked

i see the Substation Lighter...and im guessing the thing mounted to it on the bottom is a Ballast Enclosure?...Neat!

i saw one of these for Sale on a site about a year back....they wanted 1100 Bucks for it! Shocked
