Much better now.
GullWhiz   [May 14, 2011 at 03:41 PM]
Better but it's still DAYBURNING? Shocked
streetlight98   [May 14, 2011 at 03:56 PM]
Yeah. Better.... Glad they converted them instead of changing the fixtures.
gailgrove   [May 14, 2011 at 07:16 PM]

streetlight98   [May 14, 2011 at 08:46 PM]
why?
gailgrove   [May 14, 2011 at 08:56 PM]
I like HPS, its my favourite HID source Shocked Very Happy
GullWhiz   [May 14, 2011 at 09:12 PM]
Why?
streetlight98   [May 14, 2011 at 09:24 PM]
HPS is alright. I have nothing against it, but i perfer the better quality light of other light sources.
gailgrove   [May 14, 2011 at 09:39 PM]
HPS light quality is fine in my opinion, why do you like mercury Jace?
GullWhiz   [May 14, 2011 at 10:03 PM]
Because it has higher CRI than HPS and lasts longer and more pleasing to eyes....plus I can't read peoples lips under HPS making it harder for me to understand people Crying or Very sad
Form109   [May 14, 2011 at 10:24 PM]
HPS is my least favorite HID Lamp,Mercury Vapor is my favorite.

and it looks much better to me,i also notice the one on the center has a diffrent refractor than the other two.
streetlight98   [May 14, 2011 at 10:46 PM]
Yep, the second one is a totally different fixture. I like mercury vapor for lights in my collection, but if I were to actually use a light for lets say outdoor lighting at my house, than I would choose MH because it has high quality white light and I don't look like a blood-sucked alien under the cast. If it was dusk to dawn security, I'd pick MV because the lamps last the longest.

The CMH lamps are pretty good for new installs too IMO, they have a decent cri and a colour similar to MV and their efficiency is pretty decent too.

Of course I still prefer MV for my colection.
streetlight98   [May 15, 2011 at 12:44 AM]
Are CMH lamps more expensive than QPMH lamps? They both can operate on the same ballast right?
GullWhiz   [May 15, 2011 at 12:47 AM]
I donno about the prices....but yes they have same eletrical charaterstics....however CMH is recommended to be in use on electronic ballasts....but electronic ballasts are also made for QMH lamps...
joe_347V   [May 15, 2011 at 01:04 AM]
IIRC they also have some retrofit CMH lamps that can run on 250 and 400w HPS ballasts too.
