Looks like the stem mount PC went out so I mounted a twist lock receptacle onto the FS box cover and positioned it so the P-Cell window is horizontal. This is better in that a twist lock P-Cell is more reliable and if I have to work on the pole, I can pull the P-Cell and cut power off that way instead of going to the panel.
Yeah that just goes to show the quality of those wire-in photocells. I like the idea of using a twist-lock PC but why not use one of these so that the PC is oriented correctly? The PC is gasketed so it will be okay for now but gaskets will wear out. I see you used a DTL PC too. You won't be disappointed. DTL is good stuff.
I think it will be OK. There's actually three gaskets involved. One for the FS cover, one for the receptacle and one for the P-Cell itself. As to the orientation issue, I'd have to use an offset with a coupling in order for the socket to clear the porch overhang.
The PC gasket seals between the PC and the receptacle. With the PC mounted sideways like this, water could get into the PC itself because the space between the base of the PC and it's cover isn't sealed. I have seen it happen before.
