It has lights on the front
I made this in around 1998 to control some industrial VCR's and it was only made redundant when VHS tapes were discontinued in favour of DVD around 2 years ago. The unit is a 386SX/33 motherboard running MSDOS 6.1 to run the basic control program, driving the Panasonic remote controllers ( 2 stacked on each other to the right of the case) via a simple buffer from a old multi io board. The whole program plus OS ia on the 720k disk in the drive, it all fitted inb the 1M of memory onboard. No problems with this in 10 years of service other than a few monitors that died, I even built in a screensaver to reduce burn on the displays even though many had a lovely menu burnt on them from other programs. The batteries were made in Nov 1997, so I removed them after taking this pic, they still had a little life and had not leaked, really good Energisers those were.

Sean did you actually construct this?!

Yes, was looking at it on Friday, decided to keep it around, but the white boxes on either side were converted to scrap metal and stuff for the recycling container at Makro. It will probably still work perfectly if I power it up.

As well the software fits on a single disk, only used on startup to load it all to RAM, then it runs from there.
