I already explained the close up, but you see the extension cord that goes to the ground and is wound up by the door since the extension cord was long.
But you see that the cord goes under the garage under the door mat and into that GFCI outlet.
Even better if you hardwire it using either PVC or EMT thinwall conduit and #12 or #10 THHN leads. If using thinwall, be sure to use fittings rated for outdoor use.
Here's what I recommend. Pop a hole in the wall above the garage door to accomodate 1/2" or 3/4" conduit and run it along the overhang to the light. From there, you can use an LB fitting or a 90-degree pull-ell to the light. Use a small straight piece and insert it through the arm enough and use sealing compound around the hole in the wall and at the base of the arm where the conduit would enter the arm. Make sure you use conduit straps or minis (conduit clamps type 0B or 1B) to secure the conduit to the overhang. You can terminate the conduit run on the other side of the wall with a 4X4 junction box with a cover and run 12/2 Romex or MC cable to an outlet and splice it from there.
NiMo....did you know that before, his streetlight wasn't even grounded at all....I couldn't get him to follow code or anything...but I finally got him to do this which was actually better than previous way which used a regular table lamp cord! I have told him in his old pictures the wiring was horrible and stuff....but yes NiMo your way is the actually what really meets the code and the proper way!
Well we are going to move out this summer, so there isn't really any point to doing all that. I am going to take the lights down. I could do that at my new house if the streetlight won't bother people.
If the street light does bother people (which most people won't mind the light as long as it doesn't shine in their windows), convert this back to FCO.
My great uncle in Mississippi, he had a NEMA mounted on a tree that fell and cracked. I got to keep that light got the arm with it. Nice arm. Better than the one holding up my Westinghouse NEMA from Jace which I got (the arm) at Home Depot.
