You'll get the PERFECT panel size to practice electrical wiring! I dunno if your dryer outlet is accessible (sometimes they are located a few inches above the dryer), if it is, you could buy a dryer cord and connect it to the main fuses. That way you could wire various 120V and 240V devices, including streetlights!
It's defently a good trade, you'll never be out of work. My father says when I was a little kid, I was fasinated with Electricity and he gave me my first streetlight when I was 6. I wish I still had it though.
I think he said it was a M-400 split door. I know he said he used to have one of those.... I see there's no stickers to write what the fuse controls either. Maybe it's just cuz my house is from 2003 not the 50's....
Well standards in 1960 where not nearly as strict as they are today. Like I said above this is my grandmothers house, but my house (the one I live at) built in the 70's has aluminum wire, you can read more about that here - scary stuff! I have been changing out all of it I can get at to copper and if I can't I have to use these connectors or use aluminum rated switches or receptacles, both of which cost five times more than standard ones.
