Nice OV 15, it looks like it's in better condition than the ones in my area.

Are those the Canadian hinges? the OV-400s at Rocky Point Park have this style of hinges. Is this the more common or less common type?

IIRC, the Canadian OV-15 looked the same as the American ones except that the American ones usually had silver paint and the Canadian ones bare. I think they were only redesigned after the Crouse Hinds buyout.

I'm not sure if the early design with the bolts on the side was used in Canada though.

I guess this was reballasted? By the time 50W HPS came out, the L-150 replaced the OV-15. Cool to see a HPS OV-15 though. Smile

My OV-15 from 1977 has the same hinge. It's a 175w MV. FYI Mike, the classic OV-15 went down to 70w HPS, I've seen some in Northern California.

Yes it was reballasted.

Yeah 70W HPS came out before 50W. EUA here always stuck with 70W but NEES used 70W only until the early 90s when they did the bulk of their changeout, where they used all 50W. There are very few 70W HPS lights in NEES's territory. For a while, NGrid was using 50W HPS to replace failed 70W EUA lights (if a new lamp didn't get it working) but more recently they've been using 70W lights in towns where EUA was.
