Ahh an LED street light that doesn't look like you-know-what! it still needs a drop lens though lol. See, they make LED traffic signal modules that look like the old incandescents so why can't they throw on a nice drop lens and make the street light complete?
Yes, nice to at least have LED in a good looking fixture instead of looking like a you-know-what lol. An LED module in a drop lens shape would look pretty good!
Nice! I also like the LED OVHs too since they look like cobraheads instead of shovels. I wonder if it's possible to use a drop lens as a cover for the LED module.
Thanks Joe! Yes the LED cobraheads look much better than the shovels or steam irons I haven't tried out a drop lens on this, but it may work if one made a couple clips to hold both the LED module and drop lens rim down together.
yeah you should try a drop lens on this. I think they come from the factory with GE styled plastic lenses but they look much better with Lexalite/Powerlite/American Electric plastic lenses.
I took a look at the fixture to see if a drop lens could be used, but unfortunately the two notches on the front of the refractor door won't allow anything thicker to slide in other than just the rim of a drop refractor or the rim of the LED module.
Hmm what you could do is stick some shims in between the drop refractor and the LED module (you could gasket it to prevent dirt/dust in the refractor but it would only be experimental anyways) and then clamp the LED module and lens together. use the shims to separate the refractor lip and the LED module just enough so that the refractor lip and fit into the tabs in the door. It might work. I don't know what the LED module looks like though so hopefully there's enough clearance between the top of the module and the inside of the top housing.
Probably the easiest way would be to attach foam weather strip to the lip of the LED module, then rest the module over the drop lens mounted in the refractor door. It's a pretty small gap and would give it a good seal, making different hold down tabs on the hinge end of the refractor door would then keep it in place.
ahh yeah that sounds much easier. You could be the next multi-millionaire with this geneous invention that no one else has seem to come up with: a DROP LENS LED LIGTH! lol I don't know why manufacturers aren't catching on... I suppose the IDA had something to do with this.
Happy early New Year too! I have about 20 minutes 'til 2014 here but i think you still have three hours and 20 minutes right?
Thanks, yes this one was on eBay, it looks pretty good, nice a bright actually.
Thanks Mike! Happy New Year to you too! Yes I have 3 hours and 20 mins to go at the time of your comment. Yes probably something to do with IDA to stick with the full cut off design.

How's the brightness & color?
