Yeah I know of about 6 of them on Dixie between Balmoral and East Drive. Balmoral and Dixie has 3 still in use. I have no idea where you took this one lol

Yeah, neat how often we can recognize where the hardware in a picture by minor differences in configurations... But this is a trick I suppose, A region of Peel Road, Britannia where it meets Hurontario. Mississauga.

York Region used to have a ton of these too, they always wore out like this too. Normally the black rubber part should cover the entire button.

We switched to Polara Navigator and Polara Bulldog buttons starting in 2010 or 2011.

I have never seen one of these buttons undamaged. I've seen the black material that was covering it but the stitching looked ripped. Shocked

I remember that the GTE buttons were also popular in the 90s and early 2000s but I don't see them around anymore.

Here they are used at intersections under construction such as the Steeles Zum project. There used to be one near me but they replaced it a few years ago with one of the buttons that beep and flash red.

replace it with *THIS*

LOL that is so COOL! Shocked Very Happy

LOL I think they'd get annoying after a while xD

UPDATE: shortly after the sign was strapped back up. The button was never addressed. I got sick of jamming my thumb in it to activate it, so I reported it to the Region of Peel Saturday, it was replaced with a big flat silver button Monday Cool . Even got a thank you email for reporting it. Can't believe nobody thought of replacing/reporting this before me. Confused
streetlight98   [Sep 10, 2014 at 02:10 AM]
most people don't think to report those things. they assume the city knows everything lol. To be honest most people probably don't even use the buttons. I know i don't more than half the time...

the annoying thing with this crossing is when it's time to walk, the traffic lights you face remain red because on coming cars always get an advanced green arrow. For cryin out loud, they even put up count down signals the month before.

Heh, some of the buttons here are for show. Most intersections downtown run on pretimed controllers programmed to give a WALK signal each cycle so there's no need for the button. Razz
streetlight98   [Sep 11, 2014 at 11:30 AM]
I noticed in Midland they don't even have ped buttons since the signals cycle automatically.

Up here in Brampton and Mississauga, the busier road at an intersection has automatic walk cycles, but the intersecting road needs WALK to be activated to extend the green time (like this button). I'd say 70% of intersections are set up this way here.
