1940s Canadian Tulamp ballast!
I was AMAZED to reveal this thing to the light of my /DX fluorescents after, who knows, maybe 60 years under the cover! One thing that caught my eyes is the finish. This ballast is unpainted! I thought all Tulamp ballasts from that era were painted black, but nope!

I'm almost afraid of unbolting it, even just to check the date code! The wiring is still in good condition, so I don't want to alter it even more.

Shocked Sweet! This must be a pretty rare ballast.

Looks to be circa 1942-45 give or take a year or two. I don't know about Canada, but US made GE Tulamp ballasts after around '45 had the labels engraved into the metal case rather than a paper label. I like the fact that it is unpainted, it stands out from the rest!

Nice find! I love finding old/rare things. Very Happy Looks similar to the ballast from my single lamp industrial unit. I didn't find a date code engraved in the casing though so I can't find out the age of my light. Mad Sad

BTW, if you were to unbolt it you may not find a date code. For some reason neither of my single lamp GE F40T12 preheat ballasts from the late 40s-50s have a date stamped on them anywhere. Neutral

Hmm, I know most of the CGE ballasts had the date code stamped with ink on the label rather than the flanges.
