First ballast ever found with dumpster diving!
A nice CGE 17A240T ballast from 10/71. I was 14 years old when I found it!

I only have the casing now. The wires are among a bunch of other wires in a box and the core and coil assembly is gone. I don't know what happened to the cap LOL. It either sits somewhere among other junk or I just disposed of it and I forgot LOL.

why did you do a ballast autopsy? Smile

I have an old one like that too.

Devonte: Well, it was half-dead, so let's say that ballast gave its body to science LOL. But if I found it today, I would display it without taking it apart.

Hey Niall, do you have a pic of that ballast?
gailgrove   [Jan 05, 2011 at 11:15 PM]
I don't but I can take one, some time; the ballast is actually leaking and I'm pretty sure contains PBCs so its actually waiting to be properly disposed of.

Yeah I would like a pic of it Wink Along with the date code on it, for studying purposes. Thanks ^_^

I have the single lamp model of this from the late '60s which is more quiet than my new single lamp Advances.
