The Three GE M-250R Generations Each of the generations are SMALLER than the previous generation!!! Each generation had slight design changes overtime, but when a new generation came out it had the bigger design changes.... In the pic.... Darren has that one Vince....its actually the one that got painted silver, and it's the very exact same one that was holding a crimefighter door! Yes the exact same one my friend!

Talk about shrinking streetlights, even the medium sized fixtures shrunk over the years.

From the GE M-250R to the GE M-250R1 the width got a bit narrower, and just mostly the slipfitter area was just trimmed off...


But from the GE M-250R1 to GE M-250R2 the front area was trimmed from a pointy front to a flatter front..for the size....

The 1993 GE had a very different door shape....it was more FLAT....almost being an OVG style LOL

Yes GE shrunk their fixtures...but they made 1000 watt cobraheads DISAPPEAR Shocked Laughing

I think they should of kept the M1000, Cooper and AEL did. It is amazing how much light have shrunk, take for example the four foot long Powerlite B2213, (from the early 60's) and then compare it too the AEL 413 (just about a foot and a half long). I know that isn't a fair comparison but still the 413 could fit in the B2213's refractor! Razz

WAIT a MINUTE.....a Powerlite B2213 is actually 4 feet? I know the biggest I know of all is 3 feet....The earliest OV-14B and OV-25 was 3 feet long...and the OV-50 I am not sure but I think same length but wider...

And show me the AEL 413....

The current GEs are around 2 feet long

Well Jace, when you consider the B2255 is three feet long, and the B2213 uses the same refractor footprint you can see it is for sure close to four feet long! Plus that's a four foot arm it is mounted on in Joseph's picture and it looks to be exactly the same length.

Yeah the B2213 is huge, even compared to the B2255, the one I found (see Niall's link) has a different refractor style than the B2255 but I'm not really sure if the footprint is different.

Yeah, but again, it could just be a normal sized ballast in a BIG fixture...

The ballast in the 70 watt GE is kinda biggish because it is a CWA ballast with a cap! Most of my HPS ballast from 150 watt or lower are reactor ballasts which are very small and light!

Not unless you call this ballast small - it's about 10X6 inches and that's only a 700 watt ballast! I'm pretty well convinced the B2213 is the largest and likely heaviest cobra head ever made.
