Speaking of powerlines in this pic....Phase A is on the far right in the pic and Phase C is the most left of the Pole in this view! This pic is great in details....except I got a question, Devonte...is the front utility pole streetlight arm a A-frame or a simple Double Guy Rod arm?

@Jace; honestly just thought it was a tandem. The retrofits don't seem to bother me. Razz Here I think they use only 2 F32T8 tubes per two lamp 8ft fixture.

Have you seen those weird alternating ones? I mean those that have one lamp every 4 feet but the lamps alternates...I can't find a picture of those, but they are REALLY ugly...!
streetlight98   [Jan 07, 2012 at 10:35 PM]
You mean when the lamp alternates sides? Yes, that's what's used here. I don't mind them. I thought the overlapping tubes was to stop dark spots on the floor caused by the unlit endcaps. At least the fixtures look professionally retrofitted. Smile

UPDATE:
here is the article i was talking about

Bleh at least the Walmarts up here use those real two lamp tandem strip lights, the ones attached to a mall have drop ceilings and use 2X4 T8 troffers though.
streetlight98   [Jan 08, 2012 at 12:13 AM]
The ones here have drop ceilings and still have the lights Jace talked about.
GullWhiz   [Jan 08, 2012 at 01:03 AM]
I don't agree with professionally designed...for one, there's STILL dark spot between each fixture. because both fixtures aren't even centered in reflectors, one side lights one direction and other in other way. Now I have seen strip lights alternate but still have bulbs being next to each other (only shifted by about 3 inches or so) those are much betters but walmart fixtures have them shifted by 3 feet and 9 inches. But the centeral reflection is still bad so shadows kinda alternate side by side instead.......

My local Wal-Mart has MH shoebox lights outside, and row-mounted 32W T8 fixtures inside. The coolers also uses 32W T8s. One place that uses different lamps is the cards area. They use Philips Energy Advantage 25W T8s and 50W halogen PAR30s!
A_lights   [Jan 08, 2012 at 02:16 AM]
Yeah those are terrible and sloppy looking lights they use lol
joe_347V   [Jan 08, 2012 at 02:51 AM]
Here's an example of the lights used in most Walmarts here, twin T8 Alto striplights.

There's one Walmart that uses 8X T8 highbay fixtures. This store used to be a Sam's Club store and originally used 400w MH highbays which were replaced with the T8 highbays in '05 or so. The conversion to Walmart took place during the summer of 2010.

We have those too and those doesn't bother me, I like those, it's the retrofit that replaced the older 8 foot T-12 fixtures that I HATE
joe_347V   [Jan 08, 2012 at 03:33 AM]
Hmm, I don't think those ever made it up to the Canadian Walmarts since Walmart only opened here in 1994.

most walmart's i've been in seem to always have something wrong with their lighting...usually it's flickering or pinked out T5 Fixtures.

Mine has pulsing T8 fixtures. Rolling Eyes
A_lights   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:41 AM]
Mine has dimmable F32T8 fixtures that has lamps dim down when the skylights have light conning through , originally lamped with altos and they failed fast 2 years and they were done !
Then some ballasts stared failing ,they were 4 lamp , they replaced dead altos with tcp and then group relamped with GE and many lamps have failed again! One of 4 tends to die and they all go out Rolling Eyes
gailgrove   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:42 AM]
I avoid mine as much as possible so I'm not sure what the current lighting state is. Laughing
A_lights   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:46 AM]
I go there once and a while just to look at the interesting failures of ballasts and lamps! Sometimes one will be flickering too Razz
streetlight98   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:47 AM]
Here they use and sell GE lamps and stuff. Afterall, Walmart is featured on GE's website
joe_347V   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:47 AM]
Come to think of it, I recall seeing some older Walmarts that were originally Woolco stores with these mounted in rows instead of the striplights and troffers.

I've also seen some two level Walmarts with wraparounds under the escalators. Shocked

My Walmart also sells GE lamps and is probably the only place that sells those reveal linear fluorescents here. They also sold Philips back in early '07.
