I wonder if it's because I think Canadian Line Materials was located in Scarborough. Some parts of Ellesmere have them too. There used to be one in Markham on Hwy 7 east of Warden but it got replaced with a 125 and later with a LED.
When they had converted some of the MV lights to HPS early on, do you guys know if the lights were swapped out and rebuilt in a work shop or if these are the exact same lights, with ballasts changed in the field? I'm assuming they get taken to a workshop to be rebuilt by the contractor and reinstalled elsewhere but would be cool if they were left installed on the same pole.
Nice finds Joe! As far as I know the LM or McGraw Edison Unistyle 400's never saw use here in Western Canada for roadway lighting. I have only seen these used to light parking lots.
@Mike I believe the lights pictured here might have been rebuilt in a shop as I've noticed some normally bare/silver fixtures being painted grey. There are some grey Unistyle 400s, some B2255 and some OV25s like that. Not sure about the un repainted ones. I wonder if those got swapped in the field. Some even got new HPS NEMA tags when they were rebuilt.
@Darren, Thanks they were a fairly rare model around here too. I think only Scarborough had a substantial number of them.
