4000K LEDs
|
During the initial changeout in 2014, 4000K Philips Roadview RVS LEDs were used by Markham instead of 5000K and 6500K LEDs used in the more recent changouts. I wonder why they switched. Anyway along with the changeout, they also installed wireless controls (I believe made by Ripley) instead of standard PCs.
Interestingly the fixtures on the overpass were wired for group relay control when it was built in 2000 but got bypassed in favour of individual PCs in the mid 2000s.
Also note the lone HPS fixture on the signal pole. Markham likes to leave HPS fixtures on signal poles for some reason.

I like how the intersection is still HPS. Makes it stand out more.
Yeah the I find the 4000K LEDs are more practical at night as they offer better visibility at night but the bluish have that cool faux MV vibe to them lol. I also like keeping intersections HPS, a nice modern twist on the 60s caution yellow concept lol.
