Safety light? Do you mean the street light or the pole mounted signal? I really love those double guy mast arms you guys have in Cali. Cool

the safety light is the street light on top of the signal.

Yeah I like the double guy mast arms too, fortunately we still have some left. Also, I find older California setups look quite similar to Ontario setups.

there are a few double guy poles here too. One is a double guy tapered elliptical type arm. and the others look like the one above. The ones here are all 8ft IIRC...

These poles have been removed and replaced with a single pole with both signal and safety light arms. The large power poles have also been replaced and relocated for a street widening project

And LED safety lights. At least they are GE Evolves.

Ah here RIDOT only uses the LeoTek LEDs. We don't have safety lights on any of our signals though. All the RIDOT lights are on separate poles.

CalTrans uses lots of Leoteks but more and more GE Evolves have been going up lately. They are a cool 5700K color temperature, almost like clear mercy.

The rte 44 interchange on I-295 uses GE Evolves, AEL Autobahns, I think some Coopers, and possibly one other manufacturer but for everything else they've exclusively used the LeoTek "toilets".

Right now, all of Rte 4, Rte 403, and I think most of Rte 138 is LED. I-95 is LED from the CT state line to the Malls in Warwick right after the I-295 split, with the exception of Exit 3 (NGrid owned M-250R2s on HAPCO truss poles), Exit 5 (they just skipped this exit for whatever reason; lights are indeed RIDOT short davits with 250W drop lens R2s on a relay), and exit 7 (1000W MH Holophane highmasts; slated for replacement soon according to my electrician friend Marco, who has other contacts with electrical people who do installs for RIDOT). Once you get past Exit 12, the M-400R2s on tall davits remain, but the first quarter mile of them were LED'ed. I-295 is LED at exits 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7. Exit 3 is NGrid owned and the rest just haven't been done yet. Rte 146 is all HPS and they just started doing Rte 37. Rte 37 was the only freeway in RIDOT turf to have originally used OVMs and OVSs exclusively when the freeway got a facelift in 1988. Once 37 is LED'ed there will not be any more RIDOT OVMs! And RIDOT OVSs will be greatly endangered if not extinct as well.

I-195 is all HPS too, as is the Wampanoag Trail. Rte 99 is HPS too. Seems like they started in the south and are working their way up the state.

Hey Mike, you know, I found that I have other relatives I can stay over at in New England! In the not too distant future I'll fly out. By then I will let you know and we could hang out. By the way, Caltrans is still 2/3 HPS, they still install new HPS sometimes but LEDs are gradually taking over.
