Holy cow! Are these still here? Shocked
rlshieldjr   [Jan 15, 2012 at 01:42 AM]
Yes, I took these pictures today. They are probably incandescent as they need to light immediately in an emergency. They are normally off at night.

I doubt the gumballs are even orginal to the poles! There may have been fixtures before those gumballs!

here we use 400w HPS GE PF-400 that run dusk-to-dawn regularly.

My substation is lit with some HPS wallpacks and LED fixtures that were added this year underneath the busbars.

this is real awesome!

My nearest ones has various different fixtures.......but the most notible and "stands out" are the gavnilized poles with 6 foot arms with cobraheads....and what makes them special? Clear mercs! But they aren't always on, just when needed and I've seen them on from time to time, making me wonder if old lamps are actually in there!

This is the substation that is overlooking the 215 just south of the 10 interchange correct ?
streetlight98   [Jan 15, 2012 at 03:28 PM]
@ Jace, what model cobraheads?
vaporeyes   [Jan 15, 2012 at 11:49 PM]
I've seen a number of substations using incandescent or halogen lights. But never on those interesting shepherd's crook poles. Very nice find!

These got replaced with LED post top fixtures

You have got to be kidding me. Mad Sad
And everyone on LG wants to know why us streetlighting enthusiasts hate LEDs. Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Apr 09, 2017 at 01:05 AM]
For the short amount of time they're used it dosen't seem to save much energy to make the work worthwhile.
ZarlogH46   [Apr 09, 2017 at 01:39 AM]
I know right? What a waste of money, not to mention that these probably got scrapped for no reason. Mad
streetlight98   [Apr 09, 2017 at 04:37 AM]
Yeah if these aren't used much, they could be maintenance-free for years using 130V incandescents. Or what the heck, use big 65W CFLs in these guys lol.
joe_347V   [Apr 09, 2017 at 11:54 PM]
Yeah, if they wanted LED so badly they could have used some of those screw in corn cob things. Laughing
