Forgotten WSDOT mercury OV-25's in Burien, Washington
There are a few OV-25's that the state department of transportation installed in the 1960's that have missed replacement. Unfortunately, I don't know of any that are still working (some were as of a few years ago). Even though the lamps have burned out, they still stand, until the LED mass-conversion finds them. At least I have one of them safe in my lighting loft.

Nice! I looked at the streetview and I'm wondering, why are these just randomly put up. There are no other lights around these. Confused

@Mike, its a group of two lights at a merge point, on this particular freeway the lights are found only at the exits and merges where most traffic conflicts occur. The busiest freeways in Seattle have continuous lighting, mostly high masts.

Ahh I see. The lights are a pretty good distance after the ramp joins the freeway so i guess it's where the lanes themselves merge and not where the ramp joins the freeway? very cool poles too! Does Wwashington have a lot of them?

Yep its one of two common light pole styles used by WSDOT. The ones above is called an elbow style, nicknamed as double davits by Jim Terry. The other style is a conventional davit pole. There are also some double guys and truss arms but they are older installations.

ahh coo. Do you know of any other place that uses these?

There used to be Westinghouse OV-25's on davit poles in East Liberty, PA until 8 years ago when they were replaced with 250 watt high pressure sodium street lights.
