400W mercury recessed fixtures
There are several more fixtures out of the frame. Out of 16 fixtures:

- 2 are /A mercury
- 3 are MH
- The rest is /DX mercury

There are also fluorescent fixtures along the walls. The tubes in those are ALL burnt out! You can also see some PAR20 halogen spots in the middle of the ceiling, they were just not turned on when I took the pic.

Reggiani, Italy also produce recessed fixtures for high wattage HID lamps, which are marketed in Israel by Gaash lighting.
But they are only available in Israel with HPS and MH lamps, 250W and 400W.
They are rare, as i still not saw any of them.

UPDATE 03/02/11: One of the two remaining /A lamps burned out last weekend Sad Fortunately it was the less healthy of both. The other one is still like new. I will try to get the old burnt out lamp!

UPDATE 04/17/11: Another lamp recently bit the dust. This time it's the metal halide lamp, the first in foreground. It burned out two weeks ago, and by the time I took the pic above, the old /DX lamp had been replaced just a few weeks before!

Hmm are the fluorescents T8 or T12? also what is an /A designated lamp? are the square things on the ceiling lights too or are they for the intercom system?

/A is clear (no phosphor)
streetlight98   [Jan 27, 2013 at 01:03 AM]
ahh i thought clear mercs didn't have a suffix.

I think it was only one of the "Big 3" brands that used that suffix but I couldn't remember who to save my life! Laughing

I wonder if the ballasts in the cans are merc or MH ballasts. I can see the burnt out fluorescent cove lights too, it seems people never maintain them properly and eventually just disconnect them. I know of a mall built in the 60s with long since disconnected louvered cove lights in one section. I wonder if there are any vintage lamps and ballasts in there.

yeah the Warwick mall had cove lights that weren't maintained. After the March 2010 floods washed though the mall they seemed to have fixed them with daylight tubes (probably T8 or T5 and the old ones were probably T12) The old ones were all out except for a couple lamps in the whole mall which glowed dimly and could only been seen at night because of te skylights.

yeah seems some lights get forgotten about that are not mainly for general lighting Confused

this would be a cool project to relamp and see it all working the way it was meant to be

seems lights that are hard to get at are often neglected

btw in the pic i think i see some fluorescents dimly glowing to the left in the empty space twards the ceiling
streetlight98   [Jan 27, 2013 at 05:45 PM]
I see them too. As well as a couple faintly glowing to the right.

I really like this style of fixture- I have many memories of MV and MH fixtures like this in places like malls, supermarkets, and even cinemas; however they are rapidly disappearing since newer, more efficient technologies are taking their place.
Looks kind of cool with all the mixed lamps...although the MH is noticeably brighter.
Is the one in the far rear left clear, along with the left foreground one? Are the corresponding two on the right clear MH?
Vince, do you remember what shapes the lamps were?
