Stocking Up on GEs
Here's my small stockpile of modern Canadian and American GE incandescents. I started buying them after I heard about the GE plane closures and the upcoming incandescent ban. The 4 packs and the 200w clears are Canadian while the two packs are American lamps. I still need to find a pack of Canadian 60w soft white now...

Cool! I recently ordered 30 (24 inside frost and 6 clear) 100 watt 10,000 hour bulbs, all made in the USA. They are expected to take delivery on the 28th.

I have several packs of Canadian 60W Soft Whites Razz

Good thing we all stockpile incandescent light bulbs, the more we have, the longer it'll last after the ban!

Thanks, Dave and Vince, yeah I heard of people stockpiling incandescents before the ban in Europe too. I think I'll get some more and different brands of lamps before the ban too. Wonder who's stockpile will last the longest?
gailgrove   [Dec 23, 2010 at 05:24 PM]
I am likely going to start stock piling them too.
TiCoune66   [Dec 23, 2010 at 05:26 PM]
Apparently Dave (Silverliner14B) has a HUGE stockpile of lightbulbs, but he never showed it to us so far! Razz

Vince I just uploaded a pic of some of my bulbs.

I still se the 150w and higher bulbs being sold no 100w left

@ Aaron, yep it's only the standard 100, 75, 60, and 40W lamps from my understanding. I believe the rough service and 130V lamps of those wattages will still be made though. I have a nice stockpile of lamps. Some are actually 38, 57, 71, and 95W lamps I bought be mistake. Embarrassed I plan to just stick 'em on my parents' shelf and buy more standard wattage lamps before they're gone.

Over here we still have 100 watters but the oddball energy saver reduced watt ones are nowhere to be seen.

I just bought four 4-packs of Sylvania 100W so called "soft white" lamps at Ocean State Job Lot today for $1.57 each. The reason for the quotes around soft white is becuase Sylvania uses so little powder that if you put your eye up to the glass you can see through the other side clearly. I also noticed the lamps are PS19??? shaped versus A19, though the package says A19. I like the PS lamps better anyways. There are countless other differences too that I'll metion later when i post pics in a few days.
Silverliner14B   [Jul 16, 2012 at 12:00 AM]
@Mike where are these Sylvanias made? I have some made in France but they are A-19.
streetlight98   [Jul 16, 2012 at 12:11 AM]
China. I was suprised since most I picked up before were either made in Kentucky or Oklahoma. The ones made in the states have a Times New Roman etch and are A19 shaped. They still have a few BOXES of 100W lamps too but I already have 36 120V 100W lamps plus 24 130V 100W lamps so I think I'm good lol. I have 24 60W 120V lamps as well plus six lamps of each of the following wattages: 38, 57, 71, 95. I don't have any 40W lamps since I find them too dim and I have no 75W lamps in my stockpile at the moment. I might buy a couple of packs just so I have some. My parents just use 60W lamps in the house (and outside) though the garage has two 90W Sylvania supersavers and the utility room and laundry room had a 90W supersaver as well before I put in the shoplite and wrap light.

All of my stockpile lamps (except for the odd wattage lamps that I bought by mistake) are Sylvania, with the exception of two 4-packs of 60W GE soft whites from mexico that have disappearing etches lol.

UGH! Sylvania general service bulbs made in China?!?!?? They have been the best company making most stuff in the USA and now THIS? Still I'm curious and hopefully I will check out the ocean state job lot next month and hope they still have some then. BTW, all of the USA Sylvania incs are made in St Marys PA. The Winchester KY plant only makes PARs. I have plenty of Sylvania bulbs in my stockpile too and I have both full wattage and reduced wattage. Some are 52w SuperSaver XLs with brass bases.
joe_347V   [Jul 16, 2012 at 01:25 AM]
O_o I thought Sylvania was one of the companies that was still insistent on making lamps in the US. Well at least the 40w clear appliance bulbs said made in St Marys PA and the F40 Premium Cool White said made in Versailles KY on the pack.

Mike can you get a pic of said bulbs?
streetlight98   [Jul 16, 2012 at 02:46 AM]
@ Dave; Yeah I was disapointed and suprised too. I thought they would have at least been made in Mexico. They have V-shaped filaments BTW. Maybe Job Lot ordered Chinese made Sylvanias to offer them at a lower cost? Though it seems unlikely. The box is also different as well.
@ Joe; yep I promise pics by the end of tomorrow.
