This fixture is no longer a day burner.
streetlight98   [Oct 21, 2011 at 03:10 AM]
Does it work at night or is the lamp dead?
gramirez2012   [Oct 21, 2011 at 03:11 AM]
Works at night. They replaced the photocell. It has the standard black PC now. They also replaced the lamp, too.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 21, 2011 at 06:25 AM]
At least the fixture wasn't replaced.
gramirez2012   [Oct 21, 2011 at 02:33 PM]
Yeah, they don't usually replace dayburning fixtures unless there are other issues with it. It's easier just to put a new PC on it.

There was a GE M-250R1 175 watt mercury vapor light in Shaler Township PA that dayburned for at least ten years that received a new photocell and was relamped back in 2008 in Duquesne Light's area.

Yup I know of several lights around here that have been day burners for many years. ComEd doesn't usually fix them unless they're reported.
GullWhiz   [Oct 21, 2011 at 06:14 PM]
Yep I have noticed that, they don't even relamp unless reported too....that's why a lot of ComEd lights are very dimmed out.....
gramirez2012   [Oct 21, 2011 at 06:16 PM]
Yes, in fact most ComEd mercs are quite dim...
GullWhiz   [Oct 21, 2011 at 07:08 PM]
Unless YOU report it! Well at least when you report it, they DO relamp it....... Before in PEPCO...if someone reports its dim....the linemen would say "if it works it's fine!....but I donno about now...they recently did relamp to about 80-90% of their PEPCO lights so now it is much better and a lot less dayburners...near to NONE!

BGE....they are VERY good at making sure they properly are relamped and rephotocelled....they even replace photocells depending on the PC's age...even if its not dayburning, they will replace it anyway....
gramirez2012   [Oct 21, 2011 at 07:09 PM]
Yes, every dim lamp I reported they have replaced.
mercuryvaporrocks   [Oct 21, 2011 at 07:54 PM]
My power company usually only relamps a streetlight if the lamp is burned out.
streetlight98   [Oct 21, 2011 at 09:43 PM]
Here too. I've reported the M-250R"1" in front of my grandparents' house numerous times. The lamp practically puts no light on the ground and has been dim as long as i can remember. They don't seem to want to relamp it. They did relamp other dim mercs on their street though. The light is getting the cold sholder. Sad

My power company is slow too when it comes to repairing streetlights in a timely manner, in fact there were several streetslights that went out in my area last September and weren't fixed until January 2011.
