I Tapped a Incandescent Bulb A Bit Hard...and it turned into a White Incandescent
Photo doesnt nessicarily reflect the whiteness....i tapped the bulb abit and all of a sudden the Color Temp turned Whiteish (id say nearly cool White 4100K) and the brightness went up to that of a 150 Watt Lamp....the bulb didn't last too long afterwards....i suspect when i tapped it the filiment became shorter?..no?

This lamp is very overdriven. A photoflood incandescent lamp that have a 3400K color temperature have usually only 3 hours life.
This must be a problem with the socket or else. This not look like a problem with the bulb itself.

The filament prolly stretched when you tapped it, and shorted with one of the filament leads inside, easily done especially if it has a vertically mounted filament. You have made a 60v bulb lol.

That's often a problem with nightligHt bulbs and at EOL they can melt the plastic sockets b/c when the fillament shorts it causes the wattage and color temperature to increase and lifetime decrease even when burned 24/7

@Dave this lamp has a Horizontal Filament,and i suspect what happened was what you said (Stretched Filament)

@dor123 The Socket is Fine,its the Lamp

@Aaron that's intreasting.

The solution for nightlight bulbs is to use automatic nightlights. Light bulbs will last virtually forever in those. I've only replaced one in the last 10 years!

Judging by the tint of the glass, is it a Reveal bulb?
