Lost vacuum..I've had similar happen. Was this running on an electronic ballast?

Then that one heck of an EOL show! Usually, the worn-out cathode does a pop, or a sizzle, but never blew out the phosphorus coating inside! And its really rare to see this!

April 1995. One of the last months these were sold in the US, in non-shatterproof versions.
