Sure about that? It looks more like a split door (a version with 2 doors and ballast on upper casing instead of the door) You can tell by the type of latch used on the ballast side door...but this one is a bit harder to see..but it looks like a split door GE M-400 instead of a powerdoor version.

The GE M-400R2 replaced the Splitdoor in 1985...The split door replaced the original GE M-400, they just decided to use the same housing as using the power door versions.

Is there a way to tell which is who from the ground. This fixture has the vents on the bottom of the door and I've seen a few fixtures around with the back door open and the ballast mounted to the door. Any help would be appreciated!

Then if it has vents...then its indeed a powerdoor! But the newest power door replacement (which fits on GE M-400A1 and GE M-400A2) oes NOT have vents though! The easiest way to tell from the ground is the little latch that keeps the door closed....the Powerdoor ones has a much bigger latch since ballast is on the door and heavy so it uses a bigger spring latch to keep it shut...its a cast alunimum piece of latch......but the split door only has a metal strip stainless clip which is much smaller...that keeps the door close....

Awsome!!!!! Thanks for the info. I'll defentely check that out later when I get home. I have the same type of fixture in front of my house. I have already learned some new stuff in the day I've been on!!!

Well, my split door has vents. Confused It's not the most acurate way to tell.

The best one would be the latch style of the ballast door.

Only if it's HPS. The 70's MV ones didn't come with a latch, only a screw.
