Lights Of America "The Bulb"
Lights Of America came out with this back around 1997 as an attempt to have a compact fluorescent lamp that would maintain the outward shape and appearance of a standard "A" type incandescent bulb. However, the large size of the glass (about that of a mogul base 3-way) still suggested otherwise.

I bought one of these as my first screw-based CFL back in 1998 and it lasted until 2007. This well used but still working example was found at ReStore last week.

I remember these. I seem to remember these get very hot. As I never cared for bulbs of the "A" shape, I've never cared to get any "newer technology" lamps (halogen, CFL, HID, LED) that use the "A" shape; I did pick up a few of the newer "all glass" GE spirals that fit inside an A-19 bulb but I scraped the coatings off.
