Just out of curiosity, how come you never brought up any of your cooper lights having a hammered texture before you got the OVS? The hammered finish is probably just to make it look fancy since most Cooper lights are boring looking lol.
I don't feel the same discust for the OVX as I do for the durastars, but I'm not really a fan for any cooper current cooper designs except for the OVL. The OVL is a nice design, but those ballasts crap out so easily.
Yeah, the modern streetlight designs seem so bland, personally I think the modern Cooper designs I like the most are the Cooper OV15/20/Ls. Oh and the URB design too.
I don't see the OV-15 and OV-25 here. I prefer the westinghouse designs over the Cooper incarnations of the silverliners. My favorite current cobrahead is the M-250R2. My favorite older cobraheads are the M-250A, M-250R bail latch, and ITT 13. I like the Form 400 powerpack and M-100 too, but that's way back.
I wonder why Cooper still makes the OV-25 or OV-15, and only on special order... Why is that? They cant sell them normal? And why would they make an older design still? That's what I don't get.
I don't mind the original or the 70s Canadian design, but I don't really like the grey Cooperized version, fortunately they haven't made it up to Canada.
If you mean the version that I have , Cooper didn't come up with that design, Westinghouse did. As far as I know Cooper didn't come up with any OV-25, they just turned them grey and added FCO as an option. In response to Ian's question, they still make them because there is a demand for them, maybe somewhere a utility uses nothing but them, who knows, I saw two installed only a few years ago here, unpainted of course.
I know Texas uses them. Texas is big on those OV-25 FCO's. xD I don't see anything like that here, just the coopers, but coopers aren't that common here.
And about the OVH.. What was the point of it? I know it has a flat optics door and a different reflector, I think it was made to BE an FCO fixture, they just had drop lens as an option (OVG) to spread about more light with a flat angle, even though I would prefer to use the OVZ.
I wonder why they discontinued the OVM, they should of kept it, now the only medium fixture (beside the OV-25 because that is only special order) is the OVD/OVY/OVF. And that is similar to the OVH but bigger. And a wider housing. And a bail latch while the OVH still has that spring latch.
The cooper lights look pretty good in my opinion, I like the OVH, it looks very cool, at least in my opinion. I like the OVX as well.
You mean OVM.
The OVX has the more classic design, Even though no one seems to like the OVX.
The OVH IS an OVZ with a different door and a different reflector.
But LED fixtures are even weirdly designed than them.
