I know of an intersection in Brampton like that too, it really makes you wonder why some one would do that Confused

It probably helps light up the middle of the road, because people drive on that part for turns and stuff so maybe they thought they needed it.

What is REALLY weird though is the traffic signal is mounted on a utility pole. I have NEVER seen anything like that. Everything is on metal. Only time I have seen wood pole signals, is if they were span wire, but I STILL don't see those.

Around here they don't put the signals on utility poles anymore and they always get a designated metal pole, but this did use to happen quite frequently.

Yeah the streetlight is bit odd for me, most I've seen use two cobraheads like this one instead.

Most signals where I am are usually mounted on metal poles but there's some older ones mounted on wood and concrete poles.
