The insides of the M-400 r3 that currently lights up 285. Ballast is multi-tap and it looks like the lineman just shoved the arm as far into the fixture as possible, but the GE design doesn't have it tilt up far like the 115.
This M-400 R3 has the ballast mounted differently than my M-400 R3. I wonder why.. I think the M-400 R3 in this picture is the newer generation while mine is an older generation, cause mine doesn't have the screwholes like this one does. The only screwholes under the ballast bracket are for mounting the terminal board and ground wire for power door applications.
But this isn't built even close to the 125, I can see many differences, can't you?
Well, this is the M-400. Yes, both the current M-400 and M-400A only come with house-side sockets. I think the distribution of the new M-400 and M-400A is a step backwards for GE. I think the M-400R2/A2 had a much better light distribution (with the exception of the M-400R2 FCO which i heard has a very poor distribution).
