Wow the photocell socket and terminal block are the only things that look GE in this. Nothing else even resembles their cobraheads. You got the slipfitter and leveling steps but all cobraheads have that now. BTW is there a covering for the LED portion of the fixture or is that just left open or something?
The photocontrol receptacle actually has the TE logo on it. So I guess Tyco ELectronics makes them. The LED's have a flat glass over them. The glass is sealed to the fixture with some kind of silicon.
Yeah, pretty sure they are. Remember, Tyco Electronics also makes Area Lighting Research photocontrols, as well as many other electrical and streetlighting components.
Wow they're a big company lol. I think when OEM PCs are ordered for GE lights through GE they supply ALR PCs so it doesn't surprise me their PC sockets are the same. I wonder if GE still makes their own regular PC sockets? They have the GE logo but Lexalite puts the AEL logo on their refractors and AEL doesn't make them. What's the actual date of this light? My 250W M-250R2 was made in June 2016. I dislike the new not-Helvetica NEMA tags they use.
It's possible they use ALR now. But I once ordered a photocontrol from G.E. through Graybar and it was a FPOLC/Sun-Tech. The 201SA NEMA head packages I ordered also included FPOLC/Sun-Tech's. This was several years ago though.
The date on this fixture is 06-08-2016. I got this on eBay for about $60. The seller said it was used for a temporary project. It was missing the door screw when I got it, so I purchased screws from Home Depot.
Ah made around the same time ad my M-250R2. My M-250R2 was made on 6-22-2016 at 12:27PM. I store it sealed up in its original box in the shed. I lit it up once and it was surprisingly loud for a brand new fixture but I guess a large 250W ballast would create a lot of vibration. Plus OEM ballasts use minimal varnish compared to replacement ballasts. $60?! That's an incredible deal! Even though it's used it's basically new though! Can you take a picture of this installed or do you not have any displays set up (I don't remember if you do at your parent's house or not).
What's the ordering number for this? I can't see 25W on the data sheet. Trying to find out how many lumens this is. The 29W ones are about 3100 lumens, so that's about equal to a 50W PSMH. The 50W PSMH has a few hundred lumens on this LED but once the lamp breaks in its probably around the same.
A lot of LED lights are using those 7 contact PC receptacles. Both the AE and cooper LED's we're using have the same ones. They're for smart grid technology if I remember correctly. I can't remember the exact details but that's why it's not a standard 3 contact one.
I wonder how many more American jobs are being lost because of things like this? I bet that driver is made in china, if not the whole fixture. GE's HID stuff is still made in the US IIRC.
Eh, I do get your point. They don't look as much like flyswatters or toilet seats as they do street lights. I still don't understand why it would kill them to make an LED m250R2 or M250A2 with an optional drop lens.
Technically Fisher Pierce no longer exists. Sunrise Technologies bought Fisher Pierce in 2003. In 2008, they changed the name from Fisher Pierce OLC to FP OLC. Sun-Tech and FP OLC are brands under Electroswitch Corp. Tyco Electronics owns the Area Lighting Research brand of photocontrols.
also, eeeek! I hate those stab-in connectors.

I will admit that I like these LED's a lot better than some of the toilet seats out there
