Cool!, I guess this was similar to the Norelco yardlight that used a 250W SBMV. Low wattage SBMV are about on par with incandescent but I believe higher wattage ones are more efficient than incandescent. The low wattage ones were mainly used as a lamp with a long life.
if you combine the filament with the arc tubes wouldn't the efficiency be in between the two? i just don't know how well it really compares. i have a 160W SBMV lamp and it seems brighter than a 160W incandescent but i don't know if maybe it's just the color difference... what's the real benifit of even having resistive ballasted MV lamps?
