I quite like these. Wouldn't mind seeing them used around here, though I've yet to see any in RI.

My area where I live has these, but a small and medium versions, Philips Lumec Roadfocus RFS and RFM. This one is a RFL, which is equivalent to 1kW HID lights.

170 is more like a 310W HPS equivalent.

I've seen some of these (just like this one, and a smaller version) around some areas here.

As of fact, CPE is using these, but the smaller and medium versions. I saw these in some neighborhoods in my area where I live.

MassDOT has used a couple of these on the freeways. They're not this size though. I think they're the medium size or perhaps even the small size. MassDOT used LEDs that are way dimmer than the old 250W HPS though. Some are only 60 or so watts! That's 150W HPS equivalent (and a dim equivalent at that!) A true 250W HPS equivalent should be roughly 120-150 watts.
