circa 1965-1976 Fisher Pierce Photocell
This is my second inside-painted Fisher Pierce photocell. I think this one is older than my other one though. The base has the years '65 through '76 on the bottom so it must be between those years. there's an oval sticker that says "NL 8" on it as well as the wedge-shaped sticker with 6690C (part number), the number 32 on the bottom left, and "137292" stamped on the tag. Is the photocell from 1972? Note the sealed eye too.

The photocell is a multivolt dispite the gray color. I guess the church got the PC from Narragansett Electric at one point...

Nice PC! Looks like it could be from 3rd Quarter 1969.

Oh wow! My oldest photocell! This thing has some weight to it too. My other Fisher Pierce like this is 120V and is around the same weight as a modern PC but this thing is like two PCs together!

That's a beauty. Like the lamps of the same era, these were durable and lasted for decades. Not like the new photocontrols the LED fixtures sport, which are too sensitive and sometimes fail the first week they're installed.

I couldn't agree more. Older stuff was great and those sealed CdS eyes that Fisher Pierce somtimes decided to use (i don't know why they weren't more consistant lol) are virtually unkillable lol. I moved the sheild down soem to make it more sensitive since it was practically covering the whole window. I'd like to do the same to the other two FPs but they're snap-on units and the plastic is pretty brittle.

The sealed CdS eyes are an option Fisher Pierce used to offer, along with other manufacturers as well. It was referred to as "hermetically sealed". Precision still offers sealed eyes for their cadmium sulfide electronic photocontrols.

Ahh I see. That explains why some have it and some don't.
