GE's halogens aren't very well made unfortuantely. I hate their new packaging too. The rated life is in years and they don't even mention CRI on fluorescent packages and CRI is all the craze now. As for all lighting packages, I think it's rediculous how new light bulb boxes have a spin off the Nutrition Facts on them. Basically:
LIGHTING FACTS:
Serving size one lamp
Servings per container 4
...
And the amount of money the box claims you save over the life of the CFL or LED is all bull$h!t too. They exaggerate the numbers so badly to make CFLs and LEDs look better. I honestly do support LEDs, I think they do offer many advantages over conventional lighting and they're very versatile. I like LED recessed cans, mainly because they don't even look like LEDs lol. I do not like LED fluorescent tubes. I think that LED fixtures should have their own design and not copy fluorescents, because LED tubes just look terrible. It would be like installing CFLs in a radial wave. Totally ruins everything lol.
Your link doesn't work. You need to use the <enter text you want shown here> format. On the forum you can just post the link but you can also use the <enter text you want shown here> format on the forum too. It also looks a lot better than posting a really long link that takes up the whole page lol.
Even if I did I'd save the old one. It's been through a lot, that's for sure! BTW I saw the scrapping thread on one of my LG pics and I totally have to agree; that's why I'd never buy a cheap new fixture, even though it's missing a globe.
Serving size one bulb? See "light bulbs: not for eating."
If my streetlight was 200 lumens, that would be subtle, but not very reassuring. And 5000 lumens in a 18,000 square foot warehouse with 20 foot ceilings would probably not be so vibrant.
BTW, if anyone wants a vaportight fixture missing its globe, I have one around here somewhere
LOL yeah that's true! Another one that annoys me is the suggestions for fluorescent CCTs: I'd rather use a Daylight in a home living area, not a warm white! But that's just me.
