My powerbracket which is 400 watt had a 175 watt and powered it for maybe 10 years at the least....and possibility more....the arc tube is bulged but it works!
Those 1000w lamps generally aren't cheap, and anyone who doesn't know anything about HID lighting could tell this is the wrong size bulb....so what kind of moron WOULD do this? Oh yeah...I guess I did this once, for purposes of a photo...
Lamp change FAIL! Common sense should say this is much larger than the original bulb so maybe its not the right one or how about the fact it sticks halfway out of the fixture...umm hello?
Thanks guys, I have found a 100 watt HPS lamp in a 150 watt cobra head and a 250 watt lamp in a 200 watts fixture, I can't understand how any one could do this either
I don't see this very often in my area but I have underun HID lamps before for testing though but I don't run the lamps that I have a proper ballast for like this. I guess if I saw someone use a 1000w lamp in a smaller fixture I would "correct" their mistake and snag a 1000w lamp
Why would someone buy a more expensive bulb? I could see a 175w bulb in a 1000w fixture, even thought it's still just as bad.............................
I would have liked to have seen someone wire up an H36 ballast to this.
All the Best
Colin
