Joe is correct on that one! That's the negative on the CFL ones....
A mercury vapor lamp and a CFL is sorta same thing...except the MV is in higher pressure, which is why they have NO trouble being bright on colder weathers....but sometimes in REALLY EXTREME cold weathers...MV would have harder time starting up...(unless it had a double probe start with 2 starting resistors)
I would leave it alone...just be sure to relamp every 5=10 years for the maximum brightness unless you use a NOS Westinghouse 70s MV lamp, then relamp every 25 years!
Well the friend of my Mom's no longer has her horse here, the property sold to someone else. There is a CFL wall pack installed on the outside of my house for now, I can't wait to see what is does in the winter.
