GE M-250A2 on series system
It shares the circuit with another M-250A2 and an ancient series incandescent teardrop among others. Although this is a Powr/Door luminaire, the series isolation ballast is actually in the upper fixture housing rather than the door itself.

i Wonder what a Series HPS Ballast looks like....does it still have an Ignitor?

I would assume they would all share one ignitore, but they might.......

Good perspective and sensible thinking, I understand where you are getting at...but nope...they each have their own...in Frederick MD, there is a bunch of clamshells and gumballs and empty shell cobraheads and some newer cobraheads are also in series.........in 1995 they did a lot of retrofitting and ballast change over...but all the fixtures still are there and still exists.....some got new HPS series ballasts, some got HPS ballast retrofit for MV ballasts.....I saw the HPS series ones has ignitors attached to the brace part of the arm (because ignitors can't be connected too far to the bulb so the wire length is limited, so they are on the arm instead of the top of the pole along with the ballast.....)

I recently took FGS to Frederick MD, he loved what he saw...he has pictures and so do I and we will post them when we get the chance!

Jace is correct they have their own ignitors. A series system is basically a circuit where all the loads share a single line, like the small Christmas lights. One of the rules applying on series circuits is that they all run at the same current. If you mix different current values they will balance out at a single current. Street lights on series systems typically run at 6.6A but can be as high as 20A.
