Mass LED retrofitting
The city of Mississauga plans to have all LED streetlights by the end of 2015 into 2016. The left was formerly a shoebox, while the one on the right was a R7. They appear to be Fortran e-lite star™. This fixture has 3 different sizes for different roadways. The smaller it is the smaller the wattage and the bigger it is the higher the wattage. The shoebox's have retrofitted new arms onto the poles for these fixtures on all sizes of shoebox's that are existing. Heres a link to Fortrans streetlights

Eww. We have some LEDs now too. RIDOT installed some in a new installation here. The streetview car came by this August while the new lights were up and the old lights weren't taken down yet so you can compare the old and the new. Notice the ramp on the left doesn't have any new lights. That's because it is being removed. See here. RIDOT is getting rid of the "red ramp" (the one you see to the left in the street view) and is adding a left turn lane on the ramp across from the ramp being closed and they're adding a traffic light.

this fixture is relatively god-awful looking. I guess since its nothing to look at, there was no point in debating how it will look on a shoebox pole LOL. Also, remaining lower wattage poles are now getting a new edition fixture from the company that has a streamlined housing...
