AEL Autobahn
New AEL autobahns replacing an intersection that has HPS. All new intersection upgrades from around April to now are LED. You can see that they swung the signal and light arm around. All new Fortrans are being installed as well. The existing pedestrian signals are also only about a year and a half old too

Weird temp set up! they can't swing the light arm around because it's bolted into the pole, not a clamp on like the signal mast arm. I don't see why they would mount the light arm backwards, unless for some reason they want to pop the base and rotate the whole pole 180 degrees when activating LOL

Yeah that's weird. It would make sense to just have the poles oriented the correct way. Matt is correct, you would have to unbolt the pole and rotate it 180 degrees. You can't "swing" the arms around. This makes no sense whatsoever. At first I thought maybe the street light was backwards to illuminate the traffic island but if that was the case, there should be two lights on the pole.

This contractor has seemed to be evolving in their ideas to keep new inactive set ups out of the way. Last year they did it by tipping the whole pole base back on extreme angles with spacers. This year they started doing that, but someone must have thought these looked like poles about to fall, so then they utilized the easy-swing ability our signal arms all have, because it's easy to unclamp and move arms back when activating. So they've been utilizing this ability a lot on new signal sets like this. But that streetlight being backwards, wth lol

Maybe those workers had a long day and just shrugged it off and figured if it works then it works lol. Razz
It is pretty pointless having it facing the wrong way. because they are only going to have to move it back again when they decide to activate the signals

Yeah it doesn't make any sense. Here they install the masts the correct way and we have some masts up to 50 feet long and they don't get in the way, so the stubby signal arm above isn't going to get in the way. Rolling Eyes Laughing

People here complain about the smallest things, and the changes often happen with this sort of thing

Heh, I could see them mounting the signal arm backwards but the streetlight arm should bolt on the pole so they have to take if off and bolt it back on the other side. I see they also bagged the signal which should be enough to show it's not in service so I wonder why they mounted everything backwards. Razz

A side note, I noticed plumbizer signals are usually mounted facing the ground when they're not yet in use. Laughing

UPDATE: This intersection now functions and the pole has been rotated lol.
