Cree XSP LED sprawl
|
Over the past few weeks here, all the Peel Regional owned roads are changing over to Cree LED's rapidly. What all the different areas that have been changed over have in common is that the City owned streetlights haven't been touched almost at all. My guess is the City owned lights will be done at another time. This section of road was half Cree'd today for about just under a KM. Its still a work in progress but by the looks of it they'll be back again this week to finish it.

I like the RX2's. I don't find them terrible looking fixtures, its too bad that they dont have LED retrofit kits for most lights out there today. Verdeons have got to be the ugliest LED fixture for roadway. I can think of a few others that are almost or are as bad. Yeah we have LED highmasts here too. I figured Highmasts would be the very last fixtures to go LED. MTO here hasn't really started any LED work on the 400 series highways yet.
@m@, I seen Langley adding Crees at Kennedy at Chruch st and Queen St from Dixie to 410.
Its based on how many posts you make in the forum.
I think MTO is doing some LED tests near 401 and 427 and new installs since mid 2016 have been LED so they're probably considering conversion sometime in the near future. Toronto also seems to be considering conversion too.
But all the LED conversions being run by the municipality seem to favor only one particular brand of fixture. There is no mixing and matching going on. I guess it makes for more uniform installations but it's BORING! Not to mention there are several different styles of mounting arms used by the utility company here, so even if the heads match the whole assemblies don't...
Cree Canada has been kept busy considering they seem to be installing the most common LED fixture
(XSP's) here in Ontario. Wouldn't be too surprised if the city is waiting on a huge supply from the manufacturer. It is very boring in Ontario now considering almost every place that has completed changeovers has 1,or maybe 2 fixtures. Phillips, Cooper, and GE seem to be popular as well aside from the Cree's.
