Here's a photo of what appears to be old Eagle traffic lights including the 8-8-8. The "No Left Turn" sign is fluorescent. Now all those signs are just on a metal sign.

Those NO LEFT TURNS were actually front lit with incandescents. Razz Most of those sign lights got killed off in the 70s with backlight fluorescent signs (later killed off in the 90s by reflective metal signs) but there was a couple left in the Port Lands on the medians.

Interestingly, the city turned full circle and starting installing light up symbol NO LEFT TURN signs last summer. King and College have them at major intersections. Instead of fluorescent the new ones use LED.

Interesting, I have seen a few in Toronto over the last few years. All LED though. I think one of them was Yonge st and probably king st.
