Shot Out Light
I remember seeing this dayburning very very dimly when I was in Brazil back in 2006. As greened out as a MV can be. Until someone decided he had it with the dim greenish light and decided to shoot it out.

The brown square thing near the arm's base is the ballast for the light.

aww sweet! what's their line voltage? Do they have 120/240V 60Hz like the US and Canada or are they 220V 50Hz like the eastern hemisphere? are any other countries besides Canada and the US 60Hz?

Cool looking fixture, Mike here's a list of all the voltages and frequencies by country.

Interestingly in Southern Ontario the frequency used to be 25Hz and some early fluorescent lights here had dual mode 25Hz and 60Hz ballasts. I'd hate to be working underneath a 25Hz fluorescent light though. Shocked

Dave's right. They're ABSOLUTELY everywhere! From what I can see from their manufacturers these "OV-20s" are still being made! Voltage for Brazil is 220v and 127v on 60hz. Believe or not three phase wiring is available in residential houses!

what's the manufacturer? are the lamp bases E26 and E39 or are they E27 and E40?
FGS   [Apr 06, 2013 at 05:11 AM]
They're E-27s and E-40s. The most likely manufacturer for this light is NP Iluminação. It looks different cuz this one is prolly an older generation and the one on the webpage is newer.

Oh, and mercury vapor is still available according to that site. Very Happy

Seems like Brazil also has a lot of open bottom clamshells too as well as some "cobra head" that seems more American with Euro in it....but most of the style looks American though.....as in Euro-American LOL
