Lamps From My Grandpa's Shed
|
My grandparents own a 1979 mobile home in Hudson, Florida that i got to visit for the first time yesterday. The thing is totally 1970s from the wood paneling to the tinted glass chandeliers to the recessed fluorescent strip lights over the counters in the bathrooms and kitchen, to the shag carpeting on the floor. Then there's my grandpa's shed, which has a beautiful F40T12 preheater with two cool white GEs and these four lamps on a shelf.
Two Sylvania 40W BLUE lamps (in the GE sleeves), a Norelco F40CW, and a GE RES. LIGHT. I suppose the Sylvania BLUE lamps were the original to the F40 preheater and when the owner bought the light used in 1979 and stuck it up, they had bought two GE F40T12s (which likely came in those sleeves) and the person stuck the Sylvanias in the GE sleeves. The sleeves are perfectly intact but are fairly brittle. The humidity was keeping the sleeves pliable.
