Do you think the gumball was MV or incandescent? Interestingly, almost all the incandescent lights were open-bottom here. Even the early 100W mercs were crescent moons and admiral's hats, but most were cobraheads (175W were almost always OV-10IBs like mine, until the cobraheads became more prominent by like 1962 or 1963 or so). A great deal of the incandescents remained here until the 1993/1994 HPS changeout, though of course I don't remember though since I wasn't born until '98. Sad

The gumball would've most likely been incandescent,never saw any MV gumballs here. The only open type fixture used here was the radial waves,no crescent moons or admiral's hats.
